The League of Friends employed a firm of independent consultants to review how Leatherhead Hospital can develop in the future. The planning group included representatives from Central Surrey Health, Surrey Links (patient group), MEDLiNC GP consortium, Mid Surrey GP Consortium, NHS Surrey, Surrey County Council, Epsom Hospital, South East Coast Ambulance, Surrey and Borders Partnership Trust, and the League of Friends.
The study took over a year to complete – It concluded that there is plenty of scope to expand the services and departments at the hospital, and that this was financially viable and did not undermine the plans for Epsom General Hospital or any other hospital.
The final report has been presented to the GP Commissioning Group, with the hope that they will use the information to assist them in their review of the services to be provided at all their community hospitals.
In addition to continuing to supply patient comforts, and medical equipment that the NHS cannot justify, we will offer encouragement and financial assistance to expand the range of services at Leatherhead.
